Our Mission

To give every young person in CNY the opportunity to be a part of a choir that will not only teach them about music, but help them grow into greater citizens of the world.

The Syracuse Youth Chorus will be where young singers can come to better their musicianship, music leadership, and mental fortitude. SYC will perform in meaningful collaborations bringing choral excellence and a stronger sense community through music to CNY.  Our students will continue to move past the events of the past few years and towards their bright and shining futures.

Katie Weber

Artistic Director

Katie is a singer and teacher. After moving back to Syracuse in July 2021, she has been teaching in the Baldwinsville and Jamesville DeWitt school districts. As a native CNY-er, she is honored to get the chance to come back to her home town and teach the next generation of music makers.

Katie has a double bachelors degree from Eastman School of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education, and has her NYS teaching certification in K-12 Music. Her love of teaching never dimmed while building her performing career. She taught in her own private voice studio, for Soyulla Artists, The Hudson School, and Front and Center Performing Arts.

Sabine Krantz

Collaborative Pianist

Sabine Krantz was born in Sweden, and lived in Germany before moving to Norway, where she spent all of her school years. She went to the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo to study with Geir Henning Braaten, Jiri Hlinka and Sigurd Slåttebrekk. She graduated with a degree in piano pedagogy and performance.

She is currently keeping a large private piano-and voice studio, and usually plays for several schools in the Syracuse area, including Onondaga Community College vocal repertoire classes, convocations and juries, and choral concerts for F-M and ESM high schools. She has taught choirs in the homeschool community since 2009, and has accompanied Syracuse Chorale, a community choral group, since 2019.

She plays for NYSSMA, the CMM vocal competition, CNYAMT instrumental competition, and other competitions and festivals in the area. She finished a Master’s Degree in Vocal Pedagogy at SU in May 2021.
